Jason Budd is a bass-baritone and singer-actor whose professional career spans more than three decades. A native of Hubbard, Ohio, he is known for his strong vocal presence, vivid characterization, and versatility across comic and dramatic repertoire.
Budd’s broad repertoire encompasses works by composers including Verdi, Donizetti, Rossini, Mozart, Puccini, and Lehár. Representative roles include Falstaff, Dulcamara, Don Pasquale, Don Magnifico, Bartolo, Benoît, Alcindoro, Baron Zeta, and Monterone. He made his South American debut as Falstaff in Verdi’s Falstaff at Theatro São Pedro in São Paulo, Brazil.
In spring 2026, Budd returned to Toledo Opera as Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore. During Pittsburgh Opera’s 2026–27 season, he appears as Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Count Capulet in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette. His recent engagements include performances with Toledo Opera, Boston Midsummer Opera, Opera Western Reserve, Cleveland Opera Theater, Opera Project Columbus, and Spoleto Festival USA.
Budd studied at Youngstown State University and Bowling Green State University. He has received first-place honors in several vocal competitions, including the Opera Columbus Vocal Competition, the Heinz Rehfuss Singing Actor Awards, the Mary Jacobs Smith Singer of the Year Competition, and the Meistersinger Competition in Graz, Austria.
